UGS –Gas Storage Course
Gas storage can help increase security of supply by taking cheaper gas when demand is low and selling it back into the system when it’s more expensive and not so abundant. It sounds simple in theory but there are many reasons why it’s not so straight forward in practice, not least changing price dynamics which question the economic rationale of storage. This one-day course delves into and provides insight into the key issues surrounding gas storage in liberalised gas markets.
We will explain the need to store gas and look at the different types of storage facilities available. You will gain an understanding of how to buy storage capacity, trade gas using storage, and the whole economics of gas storage. You will look at how to build storage, examine a case study and explore the future of storage.
This one day introduction to gas storage is designed for: New staff in existing gas players, new market entrants, experienced staff from other areas moving into gas, lawyers and consultants with an interest in the energy market, government officials and industry press.
